Our school sports meet

       Our sports meet was held on the 18th of march. It was a memorable day for every one of us. There are four houses in our school. They are vijaya, perakum, gamunu and mahasen. For weeks before the great event, we had sports practice. Every evening after school. We decorated our houses artistically.

        Mr. M.T.Basnayaka, the zonal director of education was the chief guest. The sport meet attracted a vast crowd. There were parents, past pupils and well-wishers. We were able to start the meet at the scheduled time. Frist the Olympic torch was lit by the captains of the four houses.
There were many events at the sports meet. The first few items were relays. high jump, long jump and hurdles race. During the interval, the visitors were served short eats and cool drinks. There were some interesting items after the interval. They were the obstacle race, the sack race, the three-legged race. These items caused much laughter and amusement.
                                                                                      There were two other interesting races too, They were the

teacher's race and the visitor's race. Our class teacher miss kanthi samarakoon came first in the teacher's race. Then the chief gust made a speech praising the members of the staff and the organising committee on the perfect arrangments. He also stressed the value of sports.
The mahasen house which scored 280 points came first. The prize and certificates were distributed to the winners by the chief guest. The proceeding of the day came to an end by 7.00 p.m.
